Home Energy Assistance Program

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible Ohioans assistance with their home energy bills.

This one-time benefit is applied directly to the customer’s utility bill or bulk fuel bill. Ohioans with a household income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for the program.

Required Documentation

  1. Social Security cards for all members of the household
  2. Birth certificates for all members of the household
  3. Income information over the last 30 days for all household members age 18 and older; 12 months is preferred
  4. Proof of medical condition documentation
  5. Proof of disability, if disabled
  6. Current electric and gas bills
